Our client is seeking a skilled Warehouse Automation Specialist to join their innovative logistics team in San Jose, California, US. This role will focus on the integration, maintenance, and optimization of advanced automation technologies within our client's state-of-the-art warehousing facilities. You will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless operation of robotic systems, automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), conveyor belts, and other automated equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in automation engineering, robotics, and warehouse management systems (WMS), coupled with practical experience in troubleshooting and implementing complex automated solutions.
Your Responsibilities
- Overseeing the installation and commissioning of new automation equipment;
- Performing regular maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on automated systems to minimize downtime;
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to robotics, PLCs, sensors, and software interfaces;
- Collaborating with internal engineering teams and external vendors to develop and implement automation strategies;
- Programming and configuring robotic systems and automated machinery;
- Developing and maintaining documentation for automation processes, procedures, and technical specifications;
- Training warehouse staff on the proper operation and basic maintenance of automated equipment;
- Analyzing system performance data to identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements;
- Staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies in warehouse automation;
- Ensuring all automation activities comply with safety standards and regulations;
- Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance warehouse throughput and accuracy.
This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, hands-on environment. You will be a key player in transforming our client's logistics operations through cutting-edge technology.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical), Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience working with automated systems, robotics, or in a warehouse automation role.
- Hands-on experience: with industrial robotics (e.g., KUKA, FANUC, ABB) and their programming.
- Familiarity: with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and SCADA systems.
- Proficiency: in troubleshooting electromechanical systems, sensors, and control systems.
- Experience: with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and their integration with automation.
- Understanding: of network protocols and IT infrastructure as it relates to automation.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Documentation: Excellent technical documentation and communication abilities.
- Ability: to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Experience: in a fast-paced warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Certification: in robotics or automation is a plus.
- Willingness: to work flexible hours and be on-call as needed.
