Position Overview
Dice is the leading career destination for tech experts at every stage of their careers. Our client, Spear Staffing, is seeking a Python Software Engineer (AWS) on a 12-month contract engagement with Capital One. This hybrid role is based in McLean, VA or Dallas, TX with competitive compensation of $50/hr On W2 Or $57/hr On C2C/1099 at the Principal Associate level (4-6 years). Candidates must have super strong AWS and Python expertise, be a Capital One employee, local, and maintain an active LinkedIn profile.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Python-based backend applications from scratch.
- Architect and implement distributed systems on AWS (including EC2, S3, Lambda, and Fargate).
- Design and develop RESTful APIs (REST, HTTP).
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust cloud-native solutions in an enterprise environment.
Required Qualifications
- Proven expertise in Python backend development (from scratch).
- Extensive AWS knowledge at a subject matter expert (SME) level, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and Fargate.
- Experience with API development (REST, HTTP).
- Proficiency in CI/CD practices using Jenkins.
- Strong background with databases such as SQL, Oracle, DynamoDB, Aurora, and RDS.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals.
- Skilled in using Git / GitHub for version control.
- Must be a Capital One employee with a local presence and an active LinkedIn profile.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
- Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault for secrets management.
- Participation in open-source contributions.
- Experience using Jira for Agile project tracking.
