Job Description

Position Overview

Join Jacobs, where we are reshaping the future with innovative design solutions. This opportunity is available nationwide in the U.S., and we are looking for the most qualified candidates to join our team, ideally those with experience in the Data Center market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in various projects including preliminary assessments, concept creation, and problem resolution with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Produce drawings and specifications and ensure accessibility for customers and vendors.
  • Assume the role of Engineer of Record for designs and provide coverage for Project Leads.
  • Lead projects as bandwidth allows.
  • Mentor junior team members by guiding them through the design process.
  • Lead BIM designers in the preparation of engineering drawings and create or modify Division 27 specifications.
  • Conduct site visits to gather design information and review technical documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders and sign and seal telecommunications design packages.
  • Identify and implement processes for improved efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70 as it relates to telecommunications cabling.
  • Proficiency using Bluebeam and strong project management skills.
  • Self-motivation to work effectively with project managers and clients.
  • Experience with RFP responses and providing quality assurance for telecommunications systems.
  • Experience in the start-up and commissioning of telecommunications systems.
  • Skills in project budgeting and maintaining schedules.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license, with the capacity to obtain additional PE licenses.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 years of telecommunications design experience specifically in Data Centers.
  • Experience with additional low-voltage systems, including Security, Audio/Visual, and Wireless.
  • Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design software.
  • Strong understanding of telecom infrastructure for control and security systems.
  • Familiarity with CSI or AIA specification writing procedures.
  • RCDD credentials would be a plus.
