Position Overview

At Sony Music Entertainment—a pioneer in music history operating in over 70 countries—we fuel the creative journey by supporting iconic artists and innovative creators. We are seeking an experienced, driven, and solutions-focused Tour Director to lead all aspects of client touring operations across the US and Canada. In this role, you will oversee tour forecasting, inventory planning, logistics, road staff management, and client service, ensuring a high-touch, full-service experience that aligns with our commitment to artistic integrity, transparency, and entrepreneurship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tour Planning & Forecasting: Develop and execute merchandise forecasts utilizing historical sales, demographics, and venue-specific data while coordinating product development timelines.
  • Road & Inventory Management: Oversee road inventory planning, warehouse coordination, and on-tour stock levels; train and manage road staff to ensure accurate tracking and presentation standards.
  • Logistics & Fulfillment: Lead US and Canadian tour logistics including freight, customs, and venue coordination; execute timely shipments of essential equipment while managing vendor relationships.
  • Settlements, Financials & Reporting: Collect nightly settlements from venues and teams; maintain financial tracking, audit expenses, and report tour performance with clarity.
  • Client & Internal Collaboration: Serve as the primary contact for client needs, liaise with internal teams, and communicate feedback to drive continuous improvements.
  • Tour Team Leadership & Development: Hire, train, and lead touring staff and local vendors, maintaining SOPs to ensure consistency, quality, and brand alignment.

Required Qualifications

  • • 5+ years of experience in tour merchandise operations
  • • Proficiency in AtVenu and Excel
  • • Excellent interpersonal skills with professional written and verbal communication
  • • Experience managing tour representatives, vendors, and US/Canadian logistics
  • • High attention to detail with strong time management and organizational habits
  • • Ability to thrive under high-pressure environments with composure and focus
  • • Strategic and creative problem-solving mindset with a drive for continuous improvement
  • • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours including nights and weekends
  • • Passion for live music, artist collaboration, and enhancing fan experience
  • • Experience in fast-paced, high-volume merchandise operations with exposure to artist teams and senior stakeholders
  • • Familiarity with tax compliance, local vendor sourcing, and Canadian customs processes
