Job Description

Position Overview

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without hidden fees or compounding interest. We are seeking a Junior IT Systems Engineer for Affirm’s Network Infrastructure. In this role, you will serve as the technical backstop for a sprawling network environment—administering enterprise networks, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring adherence to IT, Security, andCompliancepolicies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer enterprise networks and assets (Firewalls, Switches, WAP’s, VPN’s, DNS appliances).
  • Maintain, monitor, configure, and test networks to ensure maximum uptime.
  • Support end users in connecting to and using the networks.
  • Educate on and execute IT, Security, andCompliancepolicies.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for off-hour support.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of network fundamentals (OSI Model, CIDR & Subnetting, ARP, DHCP, VLANs, Radius, Ethernet, WiFi).
  • Proven experience administering and supporting modern network infrastructures (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Meraki, PaloAlto).
  • Familiarity with MacOS and Windows operating systems and their network stacks.
  • Experience with the AWS Cloud, specifically the VPC platform.
  • Expertise with remote access technologies (VPN’s, SD-Wan, Web Proxies/CASB solutions).
  • Solid grasp of DNS fundamentals (e.g., Bind9, Infoblox).
  • Familiarity with security technologies (Encryption, IDS/IPS, CASB, AV, SIEM).
  • Experience with SaaS-based logging and analytics platforms (Datadog, Elastic, Splunk).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Networking certifications (e.g., CCENT, CCNA, PCnse, CMNO).
  • Experience with Single Sign-On (OneLogin, Okta, SAML, LDAP).
  • Linux system administration background.
  • Proficiency in Bash or Powershell scripting.
  • AWS Certifications.
  • Infoblox Accreditation.
