Senior Application Security Architect

Position Overview

The Senior Application Architect designs and develops IT applications architecture solutions to address business challenges in alignment with enterprise standards. This role involves solving moderately complex to complex issues by evaluating variable factors, improving security designs, and collaborating with both technical teams and business partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Works with implementation of SaaS solutions
• Assists with VPN and Firewall requests
• Collaborates with business partners on intake processes within ServiceNow
• Supports the design of proactive application security frameworks, including consistent security assessments, threat modeling, and the development of secure design patterns and standards
• Communicates design and development principles to appropriate stakeholders
• Conducts technical planning, develops architecture, and modifies specifications as needed
• Improves security designs to reduce vulnerabilities post-development
• Influences stakeholders to correct security deficiencies in both solution designs and developed code
• Provides solutions that balance security needs with business and technical functionality
• Develops specifications for new products, services, applications, and service offerings
• Assesses the compatibility and integration of proposed products and services to ensure a cohesive architecture

Required Qualifications

• Implement security considerations for in-house developed, COTS, and SaaS solutions
• Knowledge and experience with configuring security controls and secure migration of enterprise applications to cloud providers such as Azure (preferred), Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud
• Ability to communicate effectively with developers, application architects, and vendors
• Experience translating technical concepts into plain language to illustrate business risk
• Proven experience with security considerations for in-house developed SaaS solutions
• Expertise in application security, identity and access management, and vulnerability management
• Experience with agile software development methods
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
• At least 7 years of experience as a senior developer in large IT projects
• Prior experience as a project architect and/or team lead
• A strong passion for continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in application security, authentication and authorization, identity and access management, dynamic and static application security testing, data security, security monitoring, or SSO/2FA security and vulnerability management
• Advanced knowledge of security capabilities and constraints for deploying cloud-native and multi-cloud applications and infrastructure
• Experience in cloud development and design
• Familiarity with application vulnerability scanning tools
• Expertise in automation and standardization of software security controls
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM or equivalent
• Cloud Architecture and/or Cloud Security Certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Certifications from the Cloud Security Alliance (CCSP, CCSK) or (ISC)²
