Position Overview
The Health Data Analyst at the University of Michigan's University Health and Counseling (UHC) plays a key role in managing, analyzing, interpreting, and visualizing clinical, public health, financial, and operational data. This position supports improved healthcare and public health activities while collaborating with clinicians, epidemiologists, IT, and public health professionals across campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Extract, clean, analyze, and report data from medical records and various health databases, ensuring data integrity.
- Design and implement health-related surveys and create dashboards and reports using tools such as Tableau and Excel.
- Perform statistical analyses using software like R or SAS and develop dynamic visualizations to communicate trends.
- Collaborate with clinicians, public health leaders, and campus partners to respond to data inquiries and support decision-making.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a healthcare or public health setting with a focus on data analysis and interpretation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field.
- Experience with Epic/MiChart, SQL, Python, and advanced data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, R).
- Proficiency in managing large datasets and performing advanced statistical analyses using software such as SAS or SPSS.
- Knowledge of public health concepts, survey methodologies, and automated data processing.

- Compensation: $68,450.00 - $78,750.00, depending on qualifications, experience, and education.
