Junior Software Developer - Short Term / Temp - Remote

Position Overview

Riptide Technology is hiring a surge Junior Software Developer for short-term remote work with occasional travel to Washington DC or O'Fallon, Illinois. In this role you will support the Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) capabilities of the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) Nimitz Operational Intelligence Command (OIC) by providing IT support services including tier 1-3 on-call support, planning and scheduling, customer/user support, systems engineering and technical assessments, software engineering, system administration, database administration and development, and system/software testing and break-fix support. Additional responsibilities include migrating MDA capabilities to the cloud and applyingAI/MLtools to existing MDA data sets.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain software applications.
• Work with government off-the-shelf (GOTS), modified off-the-shelf (MOTS), and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software on both unclassified and classified ONI systems.
• Engage in research, new development, modification, reuse, reengineering, maintenance, and other activities to deliver software products meeting client/business requirements.
• Utilize Java coding skills to maintain and sustain current capabilities.
• Develop and maintain source code in compliance with secure coding standards, application STIGS, and applicable government regulations and directives.
• Provide application development support within the Development Team.
• Troubleshoot application deployment issues.
• Attend and contribute to company development meetings.
• Learn the codebase and continuously improve coding skills.
• Write and maintain code, addressing minor bug fixes as needed.
• Monitor the technical performance of internal systems and respond to development team requests.
• Gather consumer feedback regarding program functionality and conduct development tests.

Required Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science(Preferred)with 2+ years of recent IT experience.
• Security Clearance:Active DoD - Secret.
• 2+ years of experience in web frontend development.
• Proficient with JavaScript and Python.
• Experience with Docker containers and REST APIs.
• Familiarity with Scrum project management methodology.
• Ability to work during core business hours (9:00 - 3:00) with flexibility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in DoD software development.
