The Manufacturing Team Lead is responsible for providing daily direction, support, and guidance to team members. You will oversee the production flow of a cell, ensuring high product quality while coordinating resources and activities. This role requires managing multiple tasks simultaneously and working a 12-hour shift (5:45 am – 6 pm).
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a safety leader by putting safety first in all responsibilities and working with the EHS Manager to maintain a safe working environment.
- Prepare and update daily production schedules and assign daily preventative maintenance to Technicians.
- Utilize all resources (people and equipment) to eliminate backlogs and control production pace.
- Coordinate and monitor both the training of new Manufacturing Technicians and the cross-training within the cell.
- Monitor technician productivity, scrap reports, and product quality while providing constructive feedback.
- Build and maintain team morale by keeping Manufacturing Technicians motivated and working together effectively.
- Assist with production, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting quality and equipment issues.
- Provide performance feedback regarding production, quality, and attitude to support disciplinary actions and performance reviews.
- Review manufacturing schedules, production pace, scrap deviations, and quality check reports for the cell.
- Write and edit Standard Practices and Standard Procedures for the cell.
- Maintain production and safety inventory.
- Assist in the training of new hires.
- Ensure dependable and reliable attendance.
- Provide backup support for other areas (e.g. Wax Cell, Dip/Dewax, Melt Cell, or Finishing Cell) when production flow is interrupted.
- Operate a forklift (if certified) including loading/unloading trucks and managing incoming/outgoing packages.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or HSED/GED Equivalent is preferred.
- Must possess good computer skills and the ability to learn new skills as needed.
- 3-5 years of manufacturing floor experience, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership role.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to read technical documents, write standard reports, and effectively instruct team members.
- Ability to operate various equipment including computers, precision measuring devices, and lifting devices.
