Job Description
Position Overview
PCC Community Wellness Center is seeking compassionate, mission-driven Medical Assistants to support patient care across our Chicago and near-west suburban health centers. This role provides clinical and administrative support to providers and care teams while ensuring an exceptional patient experience. Float MAs will work across various PCC locations, including Austin, ARC, Steinmetz, Salud, West Town/Boulevard, Lake Street, Melrose Park, Berwyn (PCC South), and West Suburban Hospital sites, based on staffing needs.
Schedule: Shifts may range between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM depending on site needs, with occasional Saturday coverage required.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain vital signs and perform routine patient intake, documenting appropriately.
- Direct patient flow and assist other staff to maintain efficiency.
- Perform and document basic patient history, treatments, and administered medications in accordance with PCC policies.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed by the provider.
- Maintain accurate medical records and report any pertinent patient information to the nurse.
- Keep providers informed of changes in assignments or patient flow that may affect working conditions.
- Perform laboratory and diagnostic tests as ordered by the provider.
- Ensure exam rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and order medical supplies under the supervision of the Clinic Administrator.
- Record quality control checks on specific medical equipment and office diagnostic tests following established protocols.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and a neat, orderly clinical work area.
- Follow PCC policies, procedures, safety practices, and customer service guidelines.
- Participate in continual quality improvement initiatives related to patient satisfaction, clinical, and operational quality.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by the Clinic Administrator.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of a Certified Medical Assistant Program.
- Requirements: Current and valid CPR card.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Proficient in MS Office Business Applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and move around the clinic site 50% of the time; must occasionally lift objects up to 10 pounds and be flexible to cover shift rotations and transport between sites.
- Strong follow-through, responsibility, and judgment with the ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
- Effective teamwork skills and willingness to cooperate in achieving departmental goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Qualifications: Previous clinical experience.
- Qualifications: Current Medical Assistant Certification.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Effective and creative problem-solving abilities.
