Position Overview

Architect/Interior Designer at Elaine Santos Design. Location: New York. Salary: 50-100k. Schedule: Full-time. Date Posted: 01/22/26.
Elaine Santos Design is seeking an interior designer/architect with 2-4 years of project management experience in architecture and interior architecture to work at our lower Manhattan studio. This is an in person role (not remote). The ideal candidate is an outgoing individual skilled in hand and computer drawing, highly productive in CAD, with experience in all aspects of design and production. The candidate must be able to manage multiple projects concurrently and demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills while working with clients, vendors, and contractors, as well as producing construction documents.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage project phases including Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, Custom Millwork Detail, and Shop Drawings Review.

Required Qualifications

• 2–4 years full-time experience at an architecture or interior design firm
• Eligible to work in the U.S.
• Skilled in producing and managing construction document (CD) sets
• Strong project management and consultant/contractor coordination skills
• Experience with client and vendor relations
• Knowledge of NYC design resources including hard materials, millwork, textiles, plumbing, lighting, and hardware
• Familiarity with NY/NYC/CT building codes
• Ability to source and coordinate finishes, fixtures, furniture, lighting, textiles, and window treatments
• Proficient in reviewing shop drawings and drafting interior plans, elevations, and details
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proficient in creating coordinated construction document sets and millwork drawings
• Ability to resolve technical and code issues
• Experience in reviewing contractor RFPs and RFIs
• Highly CAD proficient and comfortable in Word, Excel, In-Design, and Photoshop

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in residential work is preferred
