Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, deploy, configure, and maintain high-end switching, routing, IP Telephony, wireless, security, network management, and access control devices supporting Mercy Health Services infrastructure.
  • Coordinate activities across multiple groups to ensure 99.999% uptime for the organization.
  • Note: This is not a remote or hybrid position.

Required Qualifications

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • 10+ years of network engineering experience in routing/switching.
  • 5+ years of network security experience (e.g., Firewalls, security tools, threat mitigation).
  • 5+ years of Enterprise Wireless experience.
  • Certification Requirements: CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Data Center, CCNP Security, or CCNP Collaboration.
  • Extensive knowledge of Network Monitoring and Management tools (e.g., SolarWinds NPM, Cisco Prime Network Manager).
  • Experience designing and supporting large-scale Enterprise WAN infrastructures using Cisco hardware; healthcare industry experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in designing, implementing, and supporting IP-based telephony networks and Quality of Service for critical applications.
  • Advanced experience with configuring Cisco hardware (Cisco IOS and NX-OS) and familiarity with products from other vendors like Juniper, Palo Alto, and Aruba is a plus.
  • Expertise in EIGRP and BGP routing protocols, and delivering highly redundant networks across all OSI Model layers.
  • Experience designing and managing WAN environments involving MPLS, dark fiber, point-to-multipoint networks, and IPsec VPN.
  • Familiarity with network security platforms (ASA, Firepower, Cisco AMP, Cisco Umbrella) and administration of applications supporting DHCP/DNS (such as InfoBlox) and network load balancing (F5 or Citrix Netscalers).
  • Proven track record in leading technical teams on large-scale projects and documenting network designs, policies, and system configurations.
  • Ability to provide on-call technical support after hours and on weekends, as well as end user support via an enterprise ticketing system.
  • Familiarity with network providers (e.g., Verizon, CenturyLink) for troubleshooting, order management, and integration of new technologies.
  • Strong skills in working with industry standard cabling.
