Position Purpose: Responsible for managing staff and creating and maintaining a safe, attractive physical and operational environment to provide quality patient care and service to all customers. Location: SHS · MSH MSH PLANT OPERATION. Schedule: Full Time, Days, 7-3p.
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce departmental policies and procedures, including annual reviews, and assist in preparing manuals and guidebooks covering all phases of departmental operations.
- Manage the hiring process: interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new staff with proper approvals.
- Ensure staff training in approved facility maintenance practices and audit the effectiveness of techniques regularly.
- Plan work and staffing schedules to ensure adequate services are rendered.
- Assist in financial management activities by preparing annual departmental budgets for staff, operating, and capital expenditures.
- Communicate internally and externally regarding project impacts and consult with department leaders in planning and executing projects.
- Ensure that all building systems and equipment are installed and maintained in accordance with Joint Commission (EOC) standards and all applicable State/Federal/Local regulations.
- Administer and maintain a positive work climate and overall team effort.
- Comply with Mount Sinai Hospital Attendance Standards and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or equivalent experience in facility management or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in operations and management of engineering, maintenance, construction, mechanical systems, security, and safety in healthcare facilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with senior leaders, department heads, and vendors.
- Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, piping, and refrigeration systems.
- Strong knowledge of design and construction project management, safety and maintenance practices, and general management principles.
- Ability to rapidly assess emergent situations and provide direction to ensure continued hospital operations.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal codes and authorities having jurisdiction.
- Experience using computers, standard hand or electrically operated tools, and electrical test equipment.
- Experience in EPIC and MEDITECH software systems is preferred.
