Job Description
Position Overview
At Raytheon, you will join a renowned team of 4000+ software engineers dedicated to developing innovative software applications for missiles, launchers, radars, naval systems, and other advanced systems. Working within the Software Engineering Directorate’s Effectors Center, this onsite role in Tucson, AZ, demands exceptional software craftsmanship, state-of-the-art problem-solving skills, and a commitment to national security—including an active, transferable U.S. government issued security clearance and U.S. citizenship.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in requirements, design, development, and testing of real-time embedded software, application software, and associated tools.
- Design, code, test, integrate, and document robust software solutions.
- Participate in internal reviews of software components and systems to ensure quality and compliance.
- Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary engineering professionals.
- Follow established development practices and configuration management processes.
- Continuously learn cutting-edge methodologies including real-time systems, digital signal processing, machine learning, cyber security, and DevOps technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
- Experience with C++, C, or Java.
- 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering with prior internship experience.
- At least 1 year of calculus, physics, and computer science studies including assembly-level programming and modern software languages.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, systems software design, and operating system architectures.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in diverse teams and cultures.
- Prior internship experience is an advantage.

- Compensation: Salary range of 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD, based on various factors including experience, education, and skills.
