Position Overview

Staff Machine Learning Engineer - Personalization and AI

Location:

Los Angeles, California, United States (Hybrid: 3 days in office/2 days remote – New York, NY or Los Angeles, CA)
Stub Hub is on a mission to redefine the live event experience globally—from the first ticket search to stepping through the gate—and is the largest secondary ticketing marketplace in the world. The Data Science & Machine Learning Engineering team seeks a senior-level machine learning practitioner specialized in recommendation, personalization systems, and generative AI. You will design and execute a long‑term ML & AI personalization strategy, mentor team members, collaborate with cross‑functional business partners, and help shape an innovative future in ML-driven personalization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical project scoping and planning
  • Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders, executives, and data teams
  • Provide technical review and architecture oversight
  • Research and apply state‑of‑the‑art techniques
  • Surface infrastructure needs and onboard solutions

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant machine learning/data science experience in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment
  • Strong programming and analytical skills with expertise in SQL, Python, and Java/JAX/C++ (including TensorFlow, scipy, scikit‑learn, PyTorch, and stats models)
  • Hands-on experience deploying recommendation systems in consumer products
  • Experience with modern workflow orchestration in machine learning (e.g., Metaflow, Zen Flow, Airflow)
  • Experience with microservices, ML inference services, model registries, versioning, and performance tracking
  • Experience with GPU frameworks in a production setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working at a consumer tech company
  • Experience with GenAI/LLM/Agentic workflows in a production setting
