Job Description
Position Overview
The County of Riverside Flood Control and Water Conservation District is recruiting for multiple positions – Junior Engineer, Assistant Engineer, and Assistant Civil Engineer – to perform varied flood control engineering work. This role involves planning, design, construction, and maintenance of stormwater management facilities and other public works projects. Selected candidates will work on hydraulic design, hydrologic flow studies, technical report preparation, and field inspections while having opportunities for career advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and planning of public works improvements including preparation of plans, profiles, cross-sections, and quantity estimates.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic studies; design simple hydraulic structures and conduct field investigations.
- Prepare technical reports, maps, and documents to support regulatory permitting and project approval.
- Participate in construction inspections and review plans to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and regulatory agencies while addressing public inquiries and permitting issues.
Required Qualifications
- Experience using hydraulic/hydrologic software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, WSPG, MicroStation, Inroads, AutoCAD, CivilD, or Flo-2D.
- Academic background or coursework in civil/flood control engineering, hydrology, hydraulics, or related fields.
- Internship experience or related practical experience in engineering is preferred.
- For Junior Engineer positions, a bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Bioresource and Agricultural Engineering (or near completion with a minimum GPA of 2.75) and an EIT license are required.
- For Assistant Engineer, a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with at least one year of professional experience is required.
- For Assistant Civil Engineer, a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with one year of professional experience and possession of a valid Civil Engineer registration from the California State Board is required.
- All candidates must possess a valid California Class C Driver's License at the time of employment.

$77,232.90 - $98,849.92 Annually• Assistant Engineer:
$82,639.02 - $110,550.96 Annually• Assistant Civil Engineer:
