Job Description

Position Overview

This is a professional-level full time role with the City of Omaha that focuses on creating, implementing, and measuring marketing efforts to promote city services. The incumbent serves as a content creator responsible for developing and maintaining website content, crafting communications for multiple platforms, and executing email marketing strategies in alignment with departmental brand and marketing goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and edit marketing content for online, email, print, and multimedia platforms to ensure on-brand consistency and optimized search performance.
  • Assist in creating press releases, blog entries, news stories, and other communications.
  • Develop and implement email marketing strategies for various target audiences.
  • Manage website content and functionality with a focus on accessibility and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
  • Serve as the Content Management System (CMS) expert and liaison for website functionality, ensuring high quality and visual appeal.
  • Track and report analytic measures of content engagement and website success.
  • Conduct content audits to maintain accuracy, currency, and brand effectiveness.
  • Create and edit multimedia content while providing graphic design support.
  • Assist in compiling and editing data for annual public reports and collaborate with third-party vendors.
  • Maintain regular attendance and perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, English, journalism, or a related field.
  • One (1) year of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license if assigned to operate a mobile library vehicle.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Proficiency in AP Style, email marketing tools, website content management systems, and SEO best practices.
  • Strong public speaking, writing, and copy editing skills with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or similar design software.
  • Ability to learn new computer technologies, manage multiple projects, and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Must be able to sit for 76–100% of the time, stand/walk 26–50% of the time, and occasionally lift up to thirty (30) pounds.

  • Compensation: Pay Range of $58,656.00 with step increases to $73,070.40 annually.
  • Work Schedule: Forty-hour work week with paid leave consisting of 12 days vacation, 5 management days, 15 sick days, and 14 holidays.
