Job Description

Position Overview

As a Warehouse Shift Operations Manager, you will plan and coordinate a shift operation for a warehouse distribution facility, ensuring that quality, safety, and production requirements are met or exceeded. You will directly oversee daily shift operations including selection, shipping, receiving, cross docking and trailer loading operations. You will lead and manage Warehouse Supervisors in the efficient and safe operation of warehouse activities, take immediate action to resolve any issues impacting labor standards and shift completion, and monitor daily labor standards to ensure targets are met. You will also conduct performance management activities (including annual performance appraisals and design of training and career development plans), ensure progressive coaching and counseling are provided per established policies, and participate in determining the department operating budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directly oversee daily shift operations including selection, shipping, receiving, cross docking and trailer loading operations.
  • Lead and manage Warehouse Supervisors in the efficient and safe operation of warehouse activities.
  • Take immediate action to resolve any problems that could impact daily labor standards and timely completion of shift requirements.
  • Monitor labor standards daily and take appropriate action to ensure standards are achieved.
  • Conduct performance management activities including annual performance appraisals and design of training and career development plans.
  • Ensure progressive coaching and counseling are conducted according to established policies and procedures.
  • Participate in determining the department operating budget.

Required Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of general warehouse experience with a minimum of 2 years in a Supervisory role.
  • Associate Degree in General Studies, Bachelor's Degree in General Studies, General Equivalency Diploma, or High School Diploma.
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety regulatory standards.
  • Coaching skills for team development.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to convey performance expectations and motivate staff.
  • Ability to safely and efficiently move products weighing up to 60lbs.
  • Ability to stand or walk for up to 10-12 hours.
  • Basic proficiency with personal computer operations; Microsoft Office applications preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications preferred in Food Safety, Fork Lift Operation, and HACCP.
