Lead UX/UI Designer

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a visionary Lead UX/UI Designer to spearhead the design strategy for a range of innovative digital products in Portland, Oregon. This hybrid role requires a creative leader who can translate complex user needs into intuitive and engaging digital experiences. You will guide a team of designers, set the design direction, and collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to bring concepts to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design process from concept to launch, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity visual design.
• Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and UI kits to ensure consistency across all digital products.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and market analysis to gather insights and inform design decisions.
• Create compelling user flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes that effectively communicate design concepts.
• Collaborate with product managers to define product strategy and roadmap, ensuring user-centered design principles are integrated.
• Work closely with front-end developers to ensure the faithful implementation of designs and provide ongoing design support.
• Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
• Present design concepts and solutions to stakeholders at all levels, clearly articulating the rationale behind design choices.
• Champion user experience best practices throughout the organization.
• Stay abreast of the latest UI/UX trends, technologies, and best practices, and incorporate them into the design process.
• Define and track key design metrics to measure the success of user interfaces and experiences.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with a significant portion in a lead or senior role.
• Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in user-centered design, interaction design, and visual design across web and mobile platforms.
• Proficiency in industry-standard design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision).
• Demonstrated experience in leading design projects and mentoring design teams.
• Experience conducting user research and usability testing.
• Solid understanding of front-end development principles and technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing remote collaboration with in-office team synergy.
• Experience with agile development methodologies is a plus.
