Position Overview
Salary: $73,944.00 - $102,048.00 Annually
Location: Moorpark College (Moorpark CA), CA
Under the general supervision of an assigned supervisor, this position assists with the installation, support, maintenance, and repair of computer hardware and software systems, network and infrastructure systems, multimedia and audio-visual equipment, basic and complex servers, and communications equipment. The role provides advanced technical support and assistance to students and District staff. The position is based at Moorpark College, part of the Ventura County Community College District, which serves over 15,000 students and is recognized for its inclusive academic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain computer software, hardware, networks, and related equipment to assure efficient operation and prevent service interruptions.
- Maintain basic servers that house campus and districtwide applications, manage data storage, and assist in enforcing data security measures.
- Troubleshoot local area network systems including computers, servers, routers, switches, and peripherals.
- Install, administer, and troubleshoot telecommunication network equipment and related devices, including PBX and voice messaging systems.
- Install, repair, and maintain District security equipment such as video surveillance cameras and access control systems.
- Provide individual and group training to staff on proper operation and care of hardware, software, audio-visual, and communication equipment.
- Coordinate with vendors for warranty repairs and assist with application installations and upgrades.
- Install and troubleshoot multimedia and audiovisual equipment in smart classroom settings.
- Participate in the evaluation, testing, and bidding process for new technology acquisitions.
- Consult with faculty, staff, and students to develop effective technological solutions for varied office, lab, and instructional needs.
- Detect and remove viruses, malware, and other malicious software using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Install, upgrade, and test applications, perform system backups, and maintain accurate inventories of technology assets.
- Provide guidance and work direction to lower-level Information Technology staff and perform related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Education: At least forty-eight units of coursework in computer science or a related field, or possession of comparable certifications (e.g., Network+, CCNA).
- Experience Required: A minimum of four years of professional experience in the installation and maintenance of computer hardware and software systems, network and infrastructure systems, servers or operating systems, or communications equipment. A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field may substitute for two years of the required experience.
