Job Description
Position Overview
We're excited that you're considering joining SMUD's dynamic IT team in Sacramento, CA. As a part-time IT Technician, you will help ensure the availability, integrity, and security of SMUD’s technology infrastructure. In this role, you will work individually and collaboratively to troubleshoot technical issues and deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment that values integrity, respect, innovation, and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Triages, monitors, investigates, and tracks IT issues in accordance with established service level agreements.
- Performs tier one configuration, tuning, and administration duties for existing IT tools and services.
- Responds to and resolves tier one user questions and technical requests.
- Communicates IT principles and best practices to staff with guidance from management.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrable relevant work experience in troubleshooting technical issues with software and hardware.
- Understanding of standard operating procedures for modern office equipment and IT problem resolution techniques.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pursuing or holding an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Windows and Mac operating systems and common office software (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).
- Familiarity with basic networking concepts, remote desktop tools, ticketing systems, and hardware troubleshooting skills.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Associate.
