Position Overview

This is an on-site position vital for ensuring the stability, safety, and efficiency of mining operations. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of geotechnical investigations, slope stability analyses, foundation design, and ground support systems for open-pit and underground mining projects. This role requires extensive fieldwork, data interpretation, and the application of advanced geotechnical principles to solve complex challenges encountered in diverse geological environments.

Your Responsibilities

  • Planning and supervising subsurface investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
  • Analyzing soil and rock mechanics data.
  • Performing stability analyses using specialized software.
  • Developing detailed geotechnical design reports.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and field technicians.
  • Collaborating closely with mine planning engineers, environmental specialists, and construction teams to integrate geotechnical recommendations into overall mine design and operational plans.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry best practices for mining operations.

Qualifications

Education: Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field.

License: Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with a substantial portion focused on the mining industry.

Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in numerical modeling software (e.g., FLAC, GeoStudio), slope stability analysis, and foundation engineering.

Skills: Strong leadership capabilities, excellent problem-solving abilities, and outstanding communication skills for technical reporting and team collaboration.

This position requires the ability to work effectively on-site, often in challenging conditions, and to lead projects from conception through to completion.
