Job Description

Position Overview

As an Industrial Engineering Intern at Komatsu, you will support the Drill Assembly departments by contributing to continuous improvement efforts and new product development. Your work will include creating and updating assembly work instructions, process improvement initiatives, and developing routings for the assembly process. This Onsite Position is based at the South Harbor location in Milwaukee’s Harbor District, with a target start date of Summer 2026. The role offers full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hours during the academic year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create/update assembly work instructions
  • Utilize AutoCAD & SolidWorks Composer to improve processes
  • Support new product development projects (Drills)
  • Update/develop routings for the assembly process
  • Pursue process improvement ideas and capture cost savings
  • Support operations and shop employees with prints, tools, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles for continuous improvements

Required Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Sophomore, Junior, or rising Senior student in good academic standing
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills with a creative and resourceful approach
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in or aptitude for learning new product development
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Understanding of drafting/modeling software
  • Previous classroom and/or work experience in lean manufacturing principles
  • Availability to continue working throughout the school year
