Position Overview

The Manager, Human Resources Business Partner – Employee Relations is Rocky Vista University’s lead expert in employee relations and a strategic HR advisor within the Medforth Global Education shared services model. This decisive and resilient professional partners closely with university leadership and HR Centers of Excellence to deliver both strategic and operational HR support—with a heavy focus on investigations, workforce planning, compliance, and change management as RVU transitions to a shared services environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on employee relations, lead complex investigations, and guide on grievances and performance management.
  • Coach managers in conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to design and implement HR strategies that enhance employee engagement and retention.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, including wage, leave, and anti-discrimination regulations.
  • Administer the Colorado FAMLI program and manage unemployment insurance claims.
  • Partner with legal counsel to mitigate risks and enforce regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze HR metrics to inform leadership decisions and develop actionable strategies.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and deliver training to managers and employees.
  • Collaborate on talent management and talent acquisition initiatives.
  • Act as liaison between RVU leadership and HR Centers of Excellence to align initiatives with institutional goals.
  • Support change management efforts during shared services and HR COE rollouts.
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes for staff and faculty, ensuring professionalism and consistency.
  • Develop and analyze exit surveys to drive retention and engagement strategies.
  • Manage HR projects with accountability for timelines, resources, and successful outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive HR experience with an emphasis on employee relations and investigations.
  • Expertise in employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolution.
  • In-depth knowledge of Colorado employment law, including familiarity with the FAMLI program and unemployment claims.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven leadership influence.
  • Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education or healthcare HR.
  • HR certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP.
  • Familiarity with best practices in HR Centers of Excellence within higher education.
