Position Overview
Salary: $7,516 to $9,591 per month - Range 50 (2024-2025 Classified Salary Schedule)
Location: Central Services/Modesto Junior College; Modesto, CA
Schedule: 40 hours per week, 12 months per year, Monday through Friday: 8:00am – 5:00pm (some evening and weekend hours may be required)
The Network Analyst performs moderately complex professional information technology duties related to network design, development, installation, analysis, testing, implementation, documentation and maintenance. Working under the direction of a manager or senior manager, the successful candidate will participate in complex cross-functional network-related projects and provide essential technical support for network operations across the district.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide moderately complex professional support related to the design, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of the District’s network infrastructure.
- Install, configure, and maintain network devices including firewalls, routers, switches, and DNS/DHCP servers.
- Implement approved security procedures and assess network security risks to maintain network integrity.
- Participate in network expansion projects, including vendor communications, equipment procurement, and cost/benefit analysis.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and performance standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot network issues and optimize network performance.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or a closely related field.
- Experience Required: At least one year of professional experience performing IT duties focused on network design, development, installation, analysis, testing, implementation, documentation, and maintenance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of network principles, protocols, and technologies including TCP/IP, LAN, VLAN, WAN, Gigabit/Fast Ethernet, and security implementations.
- Familiarity with various Cisco networking devices and administration of operating systems such as Unix, Linux, Macintosh, and Microsoft Server.
- Ability to analyze network needs, troubleshoot issues, and prepare clear technical documentation and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid registration as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is desirable.
- Experience with advanced network security measures and proactive risk management.
- Prior involvement in large-scale network implementations or project coordination is an asset.
