Job Description
Position Overview
THOR Solutions is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor (Navy/DoD) to support US Navy Ship Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Readiness and Effectiveness Measuring (SHAREM) and Mine Warfare Readiness and Effectiveness Measuring (MIREM) initiatives at the Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) in San Diego, CA. This role is associated with an upcoming contract with an estimated award and work start in late 2025 and is contingent upon contract award. Work is onsite with up to 10% travel. Applicants must be able to obtain the required DoD Secret security clearance.
Compensation: The anticipated pay range for this position is $71,250 - $99,750/year. Actual compensation will be based on education, qualifications, and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and edit documents to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to established guidelines while coordinating with subject matter experts in naval operations.
- Maintain the highest tactical, technical, and literary quality of finished products, ensuring compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and Department of Defense directives.
- Ensure documents conform to the Style Guide and Government Printing Office (GPO) Style Manual.
- Modify existing documents as necessary to meet specific program needs.
- Collaborate on presentations and supplement other documents with technical information when required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
- At least four (4) years of U.S. Navy experience as military personnel, civil service, or contractor.
- Eight (8) years of technical writing experience using the Microsoft Office suite.
- Proven capability in preparing briefings, reports, and correspondence with technical accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency with common productivity software.
- Must possess an active or interim DoD Secret security clearance (or be eligible to obtain one promptly).
