As the Senior Director, Epic Applications, you will lead and optimize our Epic application strategy – from planning and implementation to long-term support and innovation – ensuring that our Epic platform supports compassionate, safe, and efficient care.

Salary: $235764.42 - $306493.75 per year depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Epic Implementation Leadership: Serve as a key senior leader for the Epic system implementation by guiding the planning, execution, and stabilization of go-live across all care and business domains; oversee build, testing, workflow validation, training readiness, cutover planning, go-live support, and post-live optimization; partner with implementation leaders, Epic Corporation, and third-party vendors to ensure scope, timeline, and resource alignment; identify and manage risks and coordinate resolutions through structured governance; and ensure clinical and business readiness for go-live.
  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute an enterprise Epic strategy that aligns with clinical, operational, and digital transformation priorities; promote an “Epic First” philosophy that prioritizes native functionality and integration; and lead roadmap planning, upgrade adoption, and functional optimization to support value-based care and patient access.
  • Operational Management: Ensure the availability, performance, and ongoing optimization of Epic systems across inpatient, outpatient, pharmacy, radiology, HIM, and revenue cycle modules; manage change intake, governance, and release processes; and collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to maintain a secure and scalable environment.
  • Team Leadership and Workforce Development: Lead and develop a high-performing team of Epic managers and analysts; align staffing models with project and support demands using agile resourcing strategies; foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and service excellence; and drive Epic certification compliance, skills development, and career pathway initiatives.
  • Collaboration and Governance: Partner with clinical and operational leaders to align Epic workflows with care delivery and compliance standards; participate in and lead Epic-related governance bodies, steering committees, and stakeholder forums; and lead cross-functional teams to co-design and deploy optimized workflows improving clinician experience and patient outcomes.
  • Financial Stewardship and Vendor Management: Develop and manage implementation and operational budgets for Epic applications; oversee vendor and consultant relationships to ensure performance against service level agreements; and identify opportunities to eliminate duplicative systems, reduce technical debt, and enhance platform ROI.
  • Innovation and Digital Transformation: Evaluate and implement emerging Epic tools such as ambient documentation, artificial intelligence, and digital patient engagement; drive participation in national Epic benchmark programs; and align infrastructure and build decisions with enterprise analytics and reporting needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Health Administration, Informatics, Business, Technology or a related field is required.
  • Experience Required: Minimum of 10 years of healthcare IT leadership experience in large, complex health systems, including at least 5 years of direct Epic experience and 15 years of overall experience.
  • Qualifications: Proven success in full-cycle Epic implementations, managing Epic across clinical and revenue cycle functions, effective stakeholder engagement, change management, budget development, vendor negotiation, and strategic leadership aligned with Baptist Health’s values of compassion, excellence, integrity, and faith-based service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership during full-cycle Epic installations is strongly preferred.
  • Epic certification(s) in relevant modules are highly preferred.
  • PMP or equivalent project or program management certification is preferred.
