Position Overview

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale. Our mobile developers keep Block's products simple and make our users faster and smarter by delivering exceptional user experiences and rich data insights. As a Mobile Software Engineer Intern, you will work on a small team alongside engineering, product, and creative professionals to build mobile applications for iOS and Android that serve millions of users across our ecosystem.

Compensation: Zone A: $46/hr - $51/hr, Zone B: $44/hr - $48/hr, Zone C: $41/hr - $46/hr, Zone D: $39/hr - $43/hr

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with fellow mobile developers to develop, test, and release high quality apps for our users
• Ensure Block's products work right, every time, by using testing, continuous integration, and in-depth code reviews
• Create interactions and APIs that promote trust, increase security, and reduce risks of misuse
• Contribute to the success of your team's projects and development efforts
• Envision new products, features, and flows that are inspired, thoughtfully considered, and impactful

Required Qualifications:

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math or a related technical field, with an expected graduation between May 2027 and May 2030. Recent bootcamp graduates or engineering training participants within three months of completion are also considered.
• Previous internship or project experience building apps for Android or iOS
• Programming experience in one or more object-oriented languages, including Kotlin, Swift, Java, and Python
• Familiarity with our technology stack: Kotlin, Swift, Java, Python, and Ruby
