Job Description

Position Overview

Join our team as an Engineering Technician Intern located in Saint Louis, MO. This is a 9 Months Contract position requiring 40 Hours/week with a work schedule from 7AM - 5:30PM Mon. - Thurs. Hours may be adjusted to 4-6 hours per day when school resumes in the Fall.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop skills in basic tasks, techniques, and procedures within multiple skilled areas and processes.
  • Apply basic knowledge to complete routine tasks following prescribed steps.
  • Work within clearly defined SOPs and scientific methods while adhering to quality guidelines with a high degree of supervision.
  • Perform engineering work in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
  • Design and scale up manufacturing processes, instruments, and equipment; test manufactured products to maintain quality.
  • Analyze problems and provide possible solutions to the engineering team regarding manufacturing equipment, processes, and systems.
  • Follow directions as defined by the lead engineer.
  • Conduct time and motion studies to capture and verify cycle times for individual process steps and document actual versus standard cycle times.
  • Track changes/variances, communicate updates to the team, and update prints, work instructions, routers, and bill of materials accordingly.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to hard work, follow instructions accurately, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Listen effectively and communicate complex ideas within a team environment while proactively supporting fellow team members.
  • Provide feedback and ideas for continuous improvement and seek help from team members when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High School degree or vocational certificate
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with time and motion studies or the ability to learn this skill
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and math skills
  • Ability to use a stopwatch and read time accurately
  • Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude

Preferred Qualifications

  • A.S. degree preferred in pre-engineering
  • Understanding of time and motion studies
