Job Description
Position Overview
As a Patient Registration Representative at Texas Tech Unv Hlth Sci Ctr El Paso, you contribute to the TTUHSC El Paso patient experience by performing a variety of customer service duties in an outpatient clinical setting. No direct patient care is required. Travel Required: Up to 25%.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming patients and families at an assigned Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso ambulatory clinic.
- Greet all internal and external guests and visitors in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.
- Assist patients and families with all aspects of the check-in/check-out process.
- Interview patients and/or families to obtain demographic, financial, and insurance information.
- Update records accordingly to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure the financial integrity of patient services through insurance verification and collection of copays/deductibles.
- Process billing information in a correct and timely manner.
- Assist patients with completing required forms, understanding insurance coverage, and explaining available payment options.
- Schedule new and follow-up appointments on behalf of the patient.
- Occasionally register walk-in patients for Primary Care facilities.
- Coordinate patient flow as directed and notify appropriate personnel of potential delays or issues.
- Handle add-ons, reschedules, and cancellations in accordance with department protocol.
- Perform administrative tasks including answering phones, delivering messages, triaging calls, and scanning documents.
- Maintain the reception and waiting areas for the assigned ambulatory clinic.
- Ensure confidentiality of all patient records and information.
- Provide cross-coverage for various clinics as needed to meet operational and staffing requirements.
- Remain current with all licensure, certifications, and mandatory trainings required for this position.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and practices, including Regents Rules, TTUS, and other guidelines.

- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- A High School diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
- Customer service experience in a healthcare setting.
- Previous experience interacting with patients.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Systems.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
