Job Description
Position Overview
The Data Science Analyst II, under the direction and supervision of the Director of Analytics, plays a hands-on role in the Office of Enterprise Data (OED) at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). Collaborating with stakeholders across the organization, you will develop sophisticated analytics, insights, and BI solutions to support strategic planning, decision-making, and performance measurement while advancing CHLA’s mission to create hope and build healthier futures.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to develop analytics and BI solutions that inform strategic decisions.
- Apply advanced data manipulation and analytical techniques, including Machine Learning, to transform complex healthcare data.
- Leverage technologies such as Azure data services, Oracle DB, SQL Server, and other platforms to manage and analyze data.
- Ensure data integrity and quality while managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Communicate insights effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in healthcare analytics, with familiarity using diverse healthcare data sets (claims, EHR, clinical data, structured and unstructured data).
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with demonstrated expertise beyond entry-level roles.
- Proficient in data preparation using scripting languages such as Oracle PL/SQL, MS SQL, R, and Python.
- Strong experience in developing BI solutions using tools like Tableau and/or PowerBI.
- Familiarity with Data Analytics platforms including Azure data lake, Azure Synapse, Azure Fabric, Oracle DB, and SQL Server.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for data visualization and reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or a high school diploma/GED plus 8 years of direct experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, MBA, Computer Science, MPH, or a related field.
