Job Description
Position Overview
This role focuses on structural engineering in support of TVA’s Dam Safety Program. The incumbent performs structural and civil engineering design, maintenance support, and inspections for power generating plants, highways, railroads, locks and dams. With responsibilities spanning technical evaluations, design calculations, report preparation, and field engineering, the successful candidate will contribute to ensuring engineering quality and safety while managing projects from concept through completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate instrumentation and develop scopes of work for dam safety projects.
- Manage structural dam safety projects including inspections, risk analyses, and emergency response readiness.
- Perform structural and civil design calculations, prepare technical reports, and review engineering drawings.
- Provide procurement support, including preparation of requisitions, evaluation of proposals, and vendor coordination.
- Lead project teams, oversee budgets and schedules, and perform field engineering support during construction and startup.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited program.
- Several years of progressive experience at the design/engineering level.
- Proven competence in structural and civil engineering design calculations, technical reporting, and project management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is desirable in accordance with TVA Business Practice 15.
- Strong knowledge of steel and concrete structural design, site design, highway/railroad design, and foundation engineering.
- Familiarity with seismic and soils analysis, environmental permitting, and dam safety guidelines.
