Medical Assistant (MA) – Women’s Health
Location: Tampa, Florida
Organization: Tampa Family Health Centers (TFHC)
Position Overview
Tampa Family Health Centers (TFHC) is a mission-driven, Federally Qualified Health Center dedicated to providing quality, accessible healthcare to a culturally diverse community across Hillsborough County. As a Medical Assistant (MA) – Women’s Health, you will perform both administrative and clinical duties to support patients in women’s health services, embodying TFHC’s core values of quality, respect, integrity, partnership, and compassion while ensuring compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Document patient information accurately and timely in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Complete intake interviews for new and returning patients.
- Participate in daily huddles and pre-visit preparation to ensure culturally and linguistically appropriate services.
- Prepare patients for medical exams and assist providers during exams as needed.
- Address barriers to care when patients have not met treatment goals.
- Process and route tasks appropriately in a timely manner.
- Administer vaccines at the direction of a provider.
- Perform screening tests, safely draw blood, and complete standing orders.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and follow up with patients to ensure compliance.
- Clean and stock exam rooms; disinfect treatment and lab surfaces daily and manage biohazard waste appropriately.
- Set up exam rooms according to patient visit type.
- Support TFHC’s Mission, Vision, and Values in all patient interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with certification.
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience in a Women’s Health/OB MA role, or current enrollment in a medical, nursing, or EMT program.
- Ability to navigate and enter data into an Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- Mathematical proficiency and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
