Work Arrangement: Onsite – This position requires a full-time, on-site commitment.
Be a part of the team bringing new, luxury, innovative vehicles and propulsion componentry to market at the GM Spring Hill Manufacturing site. Our sprawling facility spans 2,100 acres, featuring dedicated areas for farming, wildlife, wetlands, and native grasses. We produce award-winning luxury SUVs, including the Electric Cadillac Vistiq & Lyriq, Cadillac XT5 & XT6, among future models.
The GM Spring Hill Quality Engineering Team seeks a talented and self-driven Sr. Quality Engineer for our Vehicle Assembly plant, covering three potential commodity sets: Interior, Exterior, and Chassis components.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to daily project requests and prioritize work.
- Manage complex and ambiguous tasks with minimal supervisor input.
- Handle emerging issues on owned commodities.
- Develop quality standards and procedures.
- Review nonconforming parts and sub-assemblies for proper disposition and root cause determination.
- Analyze data to make informed decisions.
- Successfully manage multiple projects with broad scope and varying difficulty.
- Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective action plans.
- Apply the Red X Methodology and other applicable tools.
- Present clear problem definitions and technical guidance to Site Leaders with regular progress updates.
- Resolve supplier quality and engineering issues impacting Global Customer Audit (GCA), Direct Run Rate (DRR), Warranty, and Compass.
- Collaborate with production, product engineering, supplier-quality, and manufacturing engineering teams to resolve issues.
- Assist production in defect prevention and process improvement recommendations.
- Work with suppliers to address SPPS’s (Supplier Practical Problem Solving) issues and ensure robust corrective action.
- Support product launches in the plant when applicable.
- Participate in off-shift(s) and weekend production as required.
- Share lessons learned with Engineering to prevent recurring issues.
- Coordinate periodic system and process audits at both plant and supplier facilities.
- Facilitate engineering change implementations and assist in running PTR’s (Production Trial Runs).
- Support execution of all GMS (Global Manufacturing System) requirements.
- Visit supplier sites to ensure standards are met and effective countermeasures are in place.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technology, or equivalent related experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience.
- Ability to read drawings, understand GD&T, and work with 3D Visualization Software.
- Knowledge of PPQP, APQP, and PPAP requirements.
- Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Data Analysis.
- Strong critical thinking, independent judgement, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective communicator with solid oral and written presentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Plant Quality systems/applications including GSIP and GEPICS.
- Familiarity with Engineering & Supplier Quality systems/applications including ECM, PRTS, SPPS, GQTS, TeamCenter, and PAD’s.
- Understanding of Engineering Change Management including ECR’s, TCR’s, and parts release processes.
- Supplier audit experience.
- Red X Journeyman Certification and/or DFSS Green Belt Certification.
- Previous experience as a Quality Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer, Process Engineer, Design Engineer and/or Reliability Engineer.
