Position Overview
Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is the internal staffing agency for the Johns Hopkins Health System and its partner hospitals, providing temporary support across multiple locations. Based in Baltimore, MD, Johns Hopkins Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the Operating Room team under the direction of an RN.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs all patient care activities as defined in the skills competency model with compassion, dignity, and respect.
- Maintains aseptic technique 100% of the time.
- Demonstrates proficiency in gowning and gloving.
- Prepares appropriate supplies and equipment based on procedural and/or surgeon preference lists.
- Checks equipment and instrumentation for proper function prior to procedures.
- Serves as the first scrub during operative procedures.
- Prepares the operating room for the next patient.
- Prepares instruments for decontamination.
- Maintains a safe and clean surgical environment 100% of the time.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- BLS CPR certification is required.
- Completion of a Surgical Technologist training program, including clinical experience, is required.
- Minimum of 12 months of experience as a Surgical Technician is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified by The Association of Surgical Technologists, The National Board of Surgical Technology, or The Surgical Assisting Liaison Council Certificate of Surgical Technology is highly preferred.
