Job Description

Position Overview

Field Technician Position – This is NOT an entry level position. Service Envoy is seeking a full time W2 employee LEAD technician who is highly experienced with COMMERCIAL Low Voltage Cabling (network, audio video, and POTS phones). The ideal candidate possesses a broad skill set, can problem-solve independently, and is capable of leading lower-level technicians. You will work with a diverse range of clients from home customers to Fortune 500 companies, gaining exposure to varied technical challenges while expanding your skill set.

The schedule is dependent on client needs, with most calls occurring during regular business hours Monday – Friday plus occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight service calls. Overnight assignments (one to two days) include hotel accommodations and per diem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and troubleshoot commercial low voltage network & audio video cabling in diverse settings (e.g., drop ceilings, hard ceilings, crawl spaces, wall fishes).
  • Install and troubleshoot commercial low voltage telephone cabling, including work with dial tone, 66 blocks, cross-connects, and circuit extensions.
  • Lead and mentor lower-level technicians on job sites.
  • Manage service calls from start to finish, ensuring accurate digital documentation with completed paperwork, photos, and job notes.
  • Adapt to varied schedules and client procedures while providing excellent onsite service.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in commercial low voltage network & audio video cabling installation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with commercial low voltage telephone cabling installation & troubleshooting.
  • Punctuality and Dependability are essential.
  • Reliable transportation (company car provided for service calls).
  • Comfortable working at heights using tall ladders and scissor/boom lifts.
  • Excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to complete and submit paperwork, photos, and job notes digitally.
  • Must pass a Drug Test and Criminal Background Screening; clean driving record and valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with commercial networking hardware (rack, stack, and smart hands).
  • Experience in commercial wireless networking installation, troubleshooting, and part swaps.
  • Familiarity with desktop and laptop computer hardware/software installation, troubleshooting, and part swaps.
  • Experience with laser printers, point of sale hardware, commercial audio video equipment, and speaker cabling installation and repair.
