Position Overview

Compensation: CA applicants: $81,313.00 - $113,837.85; CO applicants: $74,537.00 - $104,351.10; WA applicants: $81,313.00 - $113,837.85. Other site ranges may differ.
Key Responsibilities
- Your projects may include many aspects of applied mechanical/structural engineering, including design, analysis, and test of mechanical systems, propulsion systems, and structures. These projects integrate materials and processes, manufacturing, test, operations, and systems engineering.
- Participate in the entire design cycle, including requirements derivation, conceptual and detailed design, system performance modeling, structural analysis, manufacturing and integration support, development testing, and qualification.
- Participate in the assembly and test of development and flight hardware, including planning, execution, data reduction, and analysis.
- Assist in the identification and implementation of design changes to improve system reliability and reduce operational cost.
- Perform other duties as defined by business unit objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a BS degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or another relevant engineering field.
- Recent graduates: Must have earned the degree within the last year and be able to start by Fall 2026.
- Basic understanding of the fundamentals of design – including requirements identification, material selection, input definition, form factors, interface definition, and environmental considerations.
- Basic proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred), including drawing creation.
- Basic proficiency in strength and mechanics of materials.
- Basic proficiency in structural analysis, including free-body diagrams and hand calculations.
- Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS preferred).
- Relevant internship/co-op and/or hands-on experience demonstrating development of technical skills and leadership qualities.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.
- Flexible, adaptable, and self-driven with the ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction.
Preferred Qualifications
- MS degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or another relevant engineering field.
- Experience with flight control actuators, deployable devices (doors, landing gear, sensors, etc.), hydraulic system components, separation systems, or other mechanical systems.
- Working knowledge of common aerospace materials, surface treatments, and fasteners.
- Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
- Hands-on experience with machining, building, and maintaining pressurized or mechanical systems.
- Mechanical component testing experience.
- Test instrumentation and data acquisition experience.
- Basic understanding of the fundamentals of fatigue and damage tolerance.
