We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Lead Automation Engineer to lead and contribute to the hardware and software design for process automation control systems projects—from defining architecture requirements and developing detailed design specifications to programming PLC and SCADA applications, configuring thin client server applications and process-based historian databases, tuning control loops, and commissioning and troubleshooting control systems. Must be local to Riverside, CA. Relocation available.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide application/control systems design and development for systems of varying complexity
- Develop and evaluate alternative system solutions that meet stated requirements
- Modify program/system logic involving multiple systems and subsystems
- Develop proficiency in several programming languages and control device networks for PLCs (Rockwell), SCADA (Ignition), and PCs
- Interact with customers to understand the business environment, define scope, plan, and deliver assigned work
- Work successfully in a team environment with a strong focus on customer service and continuous improvement
- Support a mix of Food & Beverage, Water/Wastewater, and Life Sciences customers
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork
- Proficiency in troubleshooting control systems and understanding process controls
- Experience with Rockwell products such as ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PlantPAx, Factory Talk Software Suite, Studio 5000, PLC5, SLC500, RSView, PanelView Plus, etc.
- Familiarity with other PLC platforms (Siemens, Modicon, GE) is a plus
- Experience with Ignition is a plus
- Knowledge of other SCADA and HMI packages (Wonderware, iFix)
- Experience in implementing detailed control system electrical design packages
- Working knowledge of control system networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, etc.)
- Control system validation experience in pharmaceutical/biotech systems is a plus
- Understanding of Biopharmaceutical processes, GMP, and validation is a plus
- Knowledge of S88 Batch standards and experience implementing batch systems is a plus
- Instrumentation experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Systems Integrator / Consulting experience preferred
