The Slomka Laboratory is at the forefront of developing innovative methods for fully automated analysis of nuclear cardiology data and integrated motion-corrected analysis of PET/CT angiography imaging. As a Research Associate Data Scientist, you will participate in biomedical research projects using programming, data mining, statistics, machine-learning, and visualization techniques. You will write clean, performant code, build database-to-deployment pipelines, and communicate scientific findings via publications and conferences.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing, evaluating, and applying computational and statistical methods—including artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms—for biomedical data analysis.
- Present and communicate scientific results through laboratory meetings, scientific conferences, and peer-reviewed publications.
- Create database-to-deployment pipelines for models using programming languages such as Python, R, and C++.
- Establish sustainable data science infrastructure and adhere to standard data analysis and machine learning processes.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to determine the need for advanced analytical methods.
- Collaborate with senior data scientists, research programmers, and principal investigators to identify key research opportunities.
- Test and validate code to ensure the adaptability and reliability of data applications.
- Participate in the development of innovative algorithms and analytical methods, and assist with the evaluation and interpretation of results.
- Contribute to both oral and written communication of scientific findings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, Biomedical Imaging, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Up to two (2) years of professional experience in healthcare or pharmaceutical industries working with biomedical data.
- Intermediate to advanced programming skills in Python, C++, or R.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in biomedical machine learning.
