Position Overview
International San Antonio Manufacturing Plant is a benchmark facility that builds leading‐edge commercial vehicles to meet the needs of today’s – and tomorrow’s – customers. Using proven engineering, advanced technology and connected manufacturing principles, the facility builds Class 6-8 trucks and Electric Vehicles to add capacity for anticipated industry growth, optimize the supplier network, and improve quality. We are currently seeking a Repair Technician I to join our San Antonio team. This role troubleshoots, repairs, and installs parts on commercial trucks to ensure superior Quality and Uptime. Please note our standard production schedule is 5:30am–4:00pm, Monday through Thursday, with flexibility to work overtime, including same day and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate overall safe work behavior by utilizing proper safety equipment and adhering to safety guidelines.
- Identify and correct unsafe situations or notify team members and recommend corrective measures.
- Follow housekeeping assignments to ensure the work area meets safety and quality standards.
- Collaborate with peers to accomplish tasks and participate in group improvement discussions and meetings.
- Keep supervisors and peers informed of accomplishments, quality, and safety issues.
- Perform routine inspections on products, processes, and materials to ensure compliance with shop floor specifications.
- Assemble and install parts using hand, air, and power tools following work instructions and specifications.
- Attend to equipment maintenance and participate in Total Productive Maintenance initiatives.
- Load raw materials into production processes and remove finished output from machines or fixtures.
- Troubleshoot defects using diagnostic tools and perform necessary repairs.
- Disassemble, adjust, and repair engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, brakes, electrical systems, fuel systems, and other truck-related equipment.
- Utilize precision equipment, shop machines, and power tools effectively.
- Retrieve drawings, special features, and truck information using International systems.
- Assist in the training of peers as required and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of two years of mechanic or International production experience.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (excluding current employees; no employment-related work sponsorship is provided).
- Ability to meet physical requirements (walking, standing, bending, twisting, climbing, lifting 15-45 pounds, and working up to 10 hours per shift under varying conditions).
- Proficient knowledge of hand tools, disassembly and reassembly procedures, proper torque verification, and repair practices for mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior automotive or truck mechanic experience.
- Ability to quickly learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work any shift and overtime as needed.
- Cross-functional experience in a manufacturing setting.
- ASE Certifications are preferred.
