We provide services to licensed retail, cultivation, and processing operations in Illinois and the emerging Kentucky medical cannabis market.

We are on the lookout for a dynamic and creative Content Marketing Specialist to play a pivotal role in our marketing team.
In this hybrid position—with a mix of remote and office work and occasional travel within Illinois and Kentucky—you will actively shape the voice and presence of all the brands we manage.
Reporting directly to the Marketing Director, you will spearhead our content marketing efforts, manage our social media presence, and craft compelling messages across multiple platforms.

Salary: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year

Location: Hybrid remote in Chicago, IL 60611

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Strategy & Creation
    • Develop and execute a content marketing plan that supports brand awareness, engagement, and growth across a multi-brand cannabis portfolio.
    • Create compelling, SEO-minded content across channels—including social media, blogs, websites, email, press releases, and digital and print marketing materials.
  • Visual & Brand Design
    • Design and produce visual assets for marketing campaigns, events, swag, and branded materials while maintaining consistent brand standards.
  • Education & Training Content
    • Create educational and training materials for internal teams, wholesale partners, retail dispensary staff, and customers (including presentations, one-pagers, and product guides).
  • Social Media & Influencer Marketing
    • Manage social media execution, including content calendars, posting, community engagement, short-form video production, influencer collaborations, and performance analysis aligned with monthly campaigns.
  • Website & Digital Presence
    • Maintain and optimize brand websites, ensuring content accuracy, visual consistency, and adherence to SEO best practices.
    • Manage and optimize brand presence across Google Business Profiles, Yelp, and other online listing platforms.
  • Public Relations & Communications
    • Publish and distribute press releases through wire services and media channels as needed.
  • Collaboration & Content Sourcing
    • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and leadership teams to support training initiatives, product launches, and campaigns.
    • Coordinate with on-site teams across retail and cultivation facilities to source photos, videos, and stories while coaching employees to provide consistent, on-brand content.
  • Analytics & Optimization
    • Collect, analyze, and report on performance metrics across social media, web, and content campaigns to inform strategy and ongoing optimization.
    • Stay current on SEO trends, platform updates, and content marketing best practices, applying insights across all content efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • You love cannabis culture and are excited about the opportunity to work in the early stages of a growth industry.
  • Bursting with creativity, you have a strong track record of producing content people love—be it articles, videos, reels, or infographics.
  • You’re in tune with internet trends, know what’s cool and trending, and understand how to engage in “The Conversation.”
  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to craft engaging, SEO-optimized blog posts, product descriptions, and educational content tailored to diverse audiences.
  • A sharp eye for design with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience creating polished visual content using Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Canva, or equivalent tools. Photography and video creation/editing experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or similar.
  • Familiarity with content management systems like WordPress, Webflow, or similar platforms, including basic content updates, formatting, and page optimization.
  • An SEO-minded approach to content creation with hands-on experience using tools like Google Search Console, SEMrush, and Google Analytics (GA4) to guide optimization and measure performance.
  • Experience with press release creation and distribution through services such as PR Newswire, GlobeNewswire, or Business Wire.
  • Proven ability to manage and publish content across major social platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and emerging channels, using scheduling tools like Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Later, Buffer, or native platform tools.
  • Experience managing brand presence on Google Business Profile and Yelp; familiarity with cannabis-specific platforms like Leafly and Weedmaps is a plus.
  • Experience in cannabis, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or retail is a huge plus.
  • Superior communication and teamwork skills, with a history of producing high-quality collaborative work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; experience with project management tools such as Asana, Monday, Notion, Trello, or ClickUp is a plus.
  • Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally using tools like Google Workspace and Slack.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
  • Must comply with all legal state requirements to work in an Illinois licensed cannabis operation.
