Platform Engineer

Position Overview

Cornerstone Defense is seeking a Software and Systems Security Engineer to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO. Candidates must have TS/SCI clearance. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain security solutions that protect on-prem systems, networks, and data while collaborating closely with Cybersecurity and IT teams. This position offers a Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 base salary. Cornerstone Defense is recognized as the Employer of Choice within the Intelligence, Defense, and Space communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain technology solutions and systems ensuring security for on-prem systems, networks, and data.
• Implement authentication and identity services (e.g., multi-factor solutions, network access control, identity servers) and robust network security systems.
• Develop application-level security controls (e.g., web application firewalls) and enforce secure coding patterns.
• Enforce cloud deployment security policies, including centralized configuration management and monitoring.
• Collaborate with Cybersecurity and IT teams to identify threats and mitigate vulnerabilities.
• Create scalable, repeatable, maintainable, and secure solutions.
• Assist with Kubernetes deployments, troubleshooting, and enhance security posture using Gitlab pipelines and ArgoCD GitOps patterns.

Required Qualifications

• Experience developing and deploying secure services using modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Rust, Go).
• Strong familiarity with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and source control technologies.
• Understanding of cloud security services, concepts, and best practices.
• Proven experience in developing security architectures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience automating processes between tools and systems (e.g., using Ansible, Powershell, etc.).
• Familiarity with enterprise security controls and best practices for Linux systems.
