Position Overview

Senior Electrical Engineer | Mission Critical – HED is looking to add an experienced team member to our group of talented Electrical Engineers. The candidate should possess broad electrical engineering expertise with a focus on mission critical projects. In this role, you will provide design and technical system solutions for large, complex projects from schematics through construction administration. Key Responsibilities

  • Build system concepts and document processes from schematics through construction administration phases.
  • Regular coordination with the supervisor in project development and performance.
  • Provide proficient knowledge in primary design sectors including Power Distribution, Lighting and Controls, and Fire Alarm systems.
  • Prepare, write, and edit specifications as well as technical reports related to energy conservation and sustainability.
  • Function as the Project Discipline Team Leader on large, complex projects when assigned.
  • Direct and oversee project team members, monitoring project budgets and team compliance.
  • Prepare and monitor project status reports and man-hour estimates in coordination with the Electrical Engineering Discipline Leader.
  • Document required code research, participate in project cost modeling, and develop the Electrical Basis of Design Journal throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct material and product research as necessary and attend project meetings.
  • Interface with other Project Discipline Team Leaders and respond to client inquiries within 24 hours.
  • Review document interpretations and submittals during bidding and construction administration.
  • Monitor and mentor staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality architectural and engineering services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Mentor support engineers to prepare them for greater project responsibilities and provide feedback to leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service quality, participate in implementation initiatives, and contribute to in-house training and professional organizations.
  • Engage in departmental discussions, share lessons learned, and recognize staff members for excellent performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and licensure.
  • Revit experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of professional services from schematic design through project close-out, including design and technical expertise.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the coordination aspects and requirements of all design disciplines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to motivate, mentor staff, and delegate work assignments.
  • Computer and CADD/BIM literate.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible.
  • Ability to work well with others under deadline situations.
  • Capable of traveling to and from project sites for client, project, and construction meetings.
  • Ability to access project sites for observation, investigation, and evaluation purposes.
  • Competency in using equipment for communication and documentation.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to perform required responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • LEED Accredited.
  • Minimum six years’ experience in the A/E industry.
  • Proficiency in short-circuit and selective coordination calculations with experience using EDSA, SKM, or other analytical modeling software.
