Job Description
Position Overview
Title: Production Engineer • Reports to: Production Engineering Manager • Location: Holland, MI. LG Energy Solution Michigan Inc. (LGESMI) develops and manufactures large lithium ion polymer batteries and packs for electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage applications. The Production Engineer I will support the distribution of resources in accordance with the production/shipment plan, ensure the safety of the workplace, perform production activities by optimizing process/equipment, and manage/improve production related results (e.g., Yield, Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE), Quantity, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
- Work with engineers and operators to troubleshoot machines on the production floor to ensure highest yield and OEE
- Understand quality issues, review non-conformance reports (NCRs), analyze quality issues and provide corrective actions
- Improve production processes by creating various SOPs and training operators to ensure proper implementation
- Monitor production progress in accordance with the production plan and provide feedback to the production management department when issues occur
- Manage inventory by classifying good products and pending inventory
- Handle non-conformance reports and lead improvement efforts
- Manage yield and conduct internal and customer audits
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and fire regulations
- Maintain cleanliness at the work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain; Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent, relevant experience)
- 1-3+ years of experience in a manufacturing production related position or equivalent
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
- Results-oriented and perseverant
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Project and process management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Technically proficient and motivated to continuously improve
- Knowledge of Six Sigma principles
- Familiarity with battery production processes
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
