Job Description
CRB Geological & Environmental Services is seeking an Environmental Assistant Project Manager with strong Phase I Environmental Site Assessment experience to support our growing workload across commercial real estate transactions. This role is ideal for someone who understands that environmental due diligence is not just reporting, it directly impacts deal timelines, risk exposure, and client decisions.
What You’ll Be Doing

- Perform site reconnaissance, records review, and historical research
- Identify and evaluate Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs)
- Prepare clear, defensible, and client-ready Phase I ESA reports
- Support Phase II scoping based on findings (not guessing, but informed by Phase I data)
- Coordinate with clients, lenders, attorneys, and internal teams
- Assist in field activities including sampling, site inspections, and environmental monitoring when needed
- Ensure projects stay on schedule, scope, and regulatory alignment
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 3+ years of direct experience conducting Phase I ESAs
- Strong working knowledge of ASTM E1527-21 and EPA All Appropriate Inquiry (AAI) standards
- Experience identifying RECs and translating findings into clear risk assessments
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong writing skills with the ability to produce clean, defensible reports
- Experience working in environmental consulting (not academic only)
Strongly Preferred
- Experience with Phase II ESAs, soil/groundwater sampling, or subsurface investigations
- Familiarity with regulatory coordination (EPA, state agencies, local jurisdictions)
- Environmental consulting
- Regulatory inspection
- Field investigations and monitoring
What Success Looks Like in This Role
- You can turn around Phase I reports efficiently without sacrificing quality
- You understand how your work impacts real estate transactions and deal velocity
- You don’t just identify issues—you help clarify risk and next steps
- You operate with ownership, accountability, and attention to detail
