Utilizing your powder metallurgy expertise, you will focus on continuous improvement of raw materials and processes through material analysis, testing, troubleshooting, monitoring process performance to ensure quality control, and meticulous documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine causes of product failure and develop methods to overcome them, including addressing internal nonconformances and customer returns.
- Serve as a technical resource for the Furnace, Press, and Powder Preparation Departments in powder metallurgy.
- Stay current with metallurgical investigative techniques and processes.
- Maintain metallurgical lab equipment and supplies.
- Provide technical support to the Quality department regarding evaluations of industry test standards and equipment.
- Evaluate and recommend outside processors related to NDT and material enhancements.
- Liaise with suppliers and customers to offer technical advice on the suitability of materials.
- Maintain memberships in industry associations (ASTM, ASM, MPIF, etc.).
- Assist with cost estimates, including the creation of new part files.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Material Science Engineering or a related field.
- 3 years’ experience in a powder metallurgy manufacturing environment.
- Relevant coursework in powder materials.
- Internship experience in a manufacturing setting.
