Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at LGH Orthopedics. Location: Lancaster area. Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for visit by using appropriate rooming standards tool.
  • Administers injections as prescribed by the provider and in accordance with practice protocol, and provides gross observations for interpretation.
  • Prepares and administers medications as prescribed and in line with federal and state regulations.
  • Assists providers with various procedures, minor surgeries, and exams as designated.
  • Performs Point of Care Testing, including hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests.
  • Removes sutures and changes dressings as necessary.
  • Provides clinical advice via phone or electronic correspondence following established triage protocols and consults with providers or licensed nurses when needed.
  • Authorizes prescription refills as directed by the provider.
  • Assists in test tracking and monitoring overdue results.
  • Ensures exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after patient visits, including maintaining and cleaning medical instruments and equipment.
  • Participates in proactive outreach for patients needing preventive and chronic disease services.
  • Coordinates care among specialists and facilitates transitions to secure all necessary patient information.
  • Assists in coordinating referrals, patient education, and community resources.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and quality of care.
  • Engages in daily huddles with the provider and serves as a patient experience advocate.
  • Handles patient information confidentially in accordance with Lancaster General Health policies.
  • May require occasional regional travel and involvement in special projects, including supporting new practices during onboarding periods.
  • Performs various front office responsibilities as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Qualifications: Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (Required)
  • Requirements: Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • Education: H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Experience Required: 1+ years Medical Assistant experience in a primary or specialty care physician’s office
