Job Description
Position Overview
The Manager, Data Analytics executes business objectives using data while organizing the technology, processes, and financial resources necessary to meet current and future analytics needs. Serving as a subject matter expert, this role provides data-driven insights to inform strategic direction. The position is hybrid, requiring work from both home and a CareFirst location in the greater Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area. Note: We are seeking a specialist in data analytics, not a generalist with a broad IT background.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a team of 6-7+ individuals supporting analytics, reporting, and data governance for Cost of Care Reporting. Guide team development in self-service capabilities, best practices, and training to serve as trusted advisors.
- Interpret statistical analyses to help clients derive meaningful insights.
- Develop and deliver presentations and reports of analytic findings.
- Formulate hypotheses and research questions, and conduct quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods analyses.
- Establish analytic frameworks and select appropriate methodologies to address client needs.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand data requirements and collaborate with internal/external teams to develop segmentation, modeling, dashboards, decision aids, and business case analyses.
- Utilize multiple data sets to create reports, data presentations, and dashboards for leadership use.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and a minimum of 4 additional years of relevant work experience.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in data analytics/data analysis.
- A minimum of 1 year of supervisory or demonstrably progressive team leadership experience.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative skills with proficiency in analytical tools such as SAS, Excel, and SQL.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to train others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree.
- Conceptual understanding of data and cloud architecture with familiarity in Azure and/or AWS, including their relationships and use cases.
- Mastery of relational database theory, including SQL and experience with at least one major RDBMS.
- Experience with Big Data scenarios, multiple analytics delivery tools, and platforms such as PowerBI and/or Tableau.
- Knowledge of Advanced Analytics use cases and applications of AI/ML for predictive analytics.
- Experience in building and managing high-performing analytics teams that deliver consistent, transparent results.
- Prior healthcare analytics experience is a must.
- Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Data Management/Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) or Data Management/MapR Certified Data Analyst.
Benefits & Perks
- Compensation: $126,800 - $235,373
