Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative product development team in Minneapolis, Minnesota, US. This senior-level position requires a deep understanding of mechanical design principles, advanced CAD skills, and a proven ability to lead complex design projects from concept to production. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for engineering excellence and a track record of delivering high-quality mechanical solutions.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead the design, analysis, and development of complex mechanical components and systems for cutting-edge products.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using industry-leading software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA).
- Perform advanced engineering analyses, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), to validate designs.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing specialists, to ensure seamless product integration.
- Drive innovation by exploring new materials, manufacturing processes, and design methodologies.
- Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering best practices in mechanical design.
- Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for mechanical design activities.
- Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability targets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical design engineering.
- Expertise in 3D CAD modeling and extensive experience with FEA/CFD tools.
- Strong understanding of materials science, thermodynamics, and manufacturing processes.
- Proven experience leading complex engineering projects and solving challenging technical problems.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in (Specific Industry, e.g., consumer electronics, medical devices, automotive) is highly desirable.
