Position Overview

Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) is a leading provider of high‐speed Internet and telecommunications services—especially to rural communities often overlooked by larger companies. As a Broadband Technician, you will receive comprehensive online and hands‐on training to install and service gigabit internet, digital video, and phone services in residential and business settings. You’ll develop essential field skills while building a career with abundant opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and repair video, internet, and phone services for residential and business customers.
  • Install and troubleshoot all required wiring, cabling (fiber, coax, Ethernet), and associated hardware.
  • Program and configure digital set-top boxes, video appliances, and home WiFi services; assist customers with equipment configuration.
  • Operate and maintain field tools including power tools, testing equipment, climbing devices, and communication devices.
  • Adhere to all company safety procedures and support on-call rotations and occasional weekend work.
  • Work in varied conditions including climbing, attic crawl spaces, heights, and traveling across service territories in a company vehicle.

Required Qualifications

  • Physical ability to move over varied terrain in all weather conditions while carrying tools and equipment.
  • Strong communication skills, both face-to-face and over the phone, with customers and team members.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Basic PC/tablet skills using standard software applications like email and web browsers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with installing and servicing home or business video, internet, and phone services.
